International Conference on Revisiting Public Policy & Governance in Times of Climate Change
A three-day international conference on public policy and governance was organized and hosted by the Berhampur University, Berhampur, Odisha state in east India, between 23 -25 January 2025. The conference brought together over a hundred scientists, academics, lawyers, government officials and students from India, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

The main themes included the role of technology to ensure sustainability, building sustainable agriculture and food security systems, climate change and ecological refugees including experiences of women displaced due to climatic shocks from coastal Odisha to climate change in the high-altitude Hindu Kush Himalayas, and climate change and artificial intelligence. The conference is organized as part of the Network of Asia Pacific Schools and Institutes of Public Administration and Governance (NAPSIPAG) which has been organizing conferences around East, South and Southeast Asia over the last decades.

The World Coastal Forum was invited to make a plenary presentation to showcase our priorities and plans, in a presentation entitled “Supporting Coastal Management and Restoration Worldwide – Update from the World Coastal Forum”. This was delivered by Dr. Taej Mundkur, Facilitator, World Coastal Forum Coordination Group. The presentation was well received. Prof Geetanjali Dash, the Vice Chancellor of the Berhampur University greatly appreciated the information shared and the opportunities it opens for the academics of her university and other participants.
